David Smith

David Smith currently serves as NAIC’s Programs and Initiatives Manager. In this role, Smith manages several of NAIC’s strategic programs designed to support members, broaden public awareness of the superior performance diverse-owned investment management firms deliver, support and strengthen industry partnerships, and cultivate relationships with existing and potential new member firms.

Prior to NAIC, David served as Senior Regional Organizer for the Southern Region and as Chief of Staff at the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC), a national nonprofit organization committed to advocating for, and supporting, minority-owned businesses and chambers of commerce nationwide. David also served as the Project Coordinator with the Capital Region Small Business Transportation Resource Center (SBTRC), a program administered through the U.S. Department of Transportation to assist disadvantaged business owners with technical assistance to ultimately lead to improved access to capital and contracts.

David is dedicated to creating educational programming, entrepreneurial training and managing professional relationships that lead to economic prosperity for all, especially low and moderate income communities. David received his B.A. from Temple University (Go Owls!) and occasionally returns to the city of Philadelphia for a much-needed cheesesteak.
